    What is GOTR?

The season culminates in a 5K, which relies on a lot of community support! We need volunteers to help with all aspects of managing the event and to run with the girls.

SPECIAL INFO: Our very own Allison Hauser is the Executive Director of Girls On the Run: NYC and Aliza Gazek is coaching a team this season! Aliza’s team members and many of the other girls in the program need buddies to help power them through the 5K and volunteers to set up the course and hand out snacks– this can be you!

CHRC member Spencer McCormick made this handy flowchart. Hope you find it helpful!

  • How do NYRR club points work?

    INTERCLUB POINTS

As a NYRR -affiliated local running club, CHRC can compete with other clubs in the NYC-area to earn special “club points” during designated NYRR races. Each year, between 9 and 11 NYRR races are chosen to be Club Points races. CHRC tries to field a team for every Club Points race.

    SCORING

The fastest 5 runners per division from each club have their finishing place added together (e.g. a club has 5 women place 1st, 4th, 16th, 199th, 200th = 420) and the clubs with the lowest totals are awarded the most points. Every club with at least 5 declared male finishers or 5 declared female finishers are awarded 1 point regardless of the total.

The NYRR website, goes into a lot more detail about scoring, but the bottom line for us is that we need to have at least 10 runners (5 male and 5 female) show up for every race!

    Go #CHRCWomen! Go #CHRCMen!

    BLAST FROM THE PAST

For those of you who have been around CHRC for a couple years, you’ll remember one of it’s very lovable Queens, Danielle and her (formerly) non-running, now husband, Adam.

In May of last year, Danielle and Adam moved back to Chicago with our best wishes, promises of lifelong running togetherness and a small token of appreciation and donation to their Honeymoon from Running Royalty.

This weekend, Adam and Danielle ran the Paris Marathon on their European honeymoon. The two of them ran circles around the Eiffel Tower as the crowds cheered from Crown Heights to Paris! This was Adam’s first full marathon and Danielle’s eighth. We cannot be prouder of them! Felicitations!!
