• It’s Marathon Week in NYC!

Autumn has arrived and Marathon Week in the city has officially kicked off!

    Poland Spring kick-off

CHRC started the week with some fabulous performances by #CHRCWomen at the Poland Spring Marathon Kick-Off 5Miler on Sunday. Despite the drizzle, all participants found their stride and came across the finish line, smiling!

Others went picking for apples and running in the fall landscape just north of the city at Run the Farm 5mile race of the Trail Mix Series. #CHRCTrails

The 45th Annual TCS NYC Marathon is only 1 week away!

Here are some ways you can be a part of it:

    • NEW this year, NYRR has built a Pavillion at the marathon finish line that is open to everyone all week from 7:00am-9:00pm (except Friday when it will close at 3:00pm). It’ll serve as an entertainment hub and welcome center for this incredible race! Check out the events that will be happening here.
    • Pick up your race materials, do some shopping, ask your last-minute questions, check out the NYRR Running Lab at the NYC Marathon Expo – Thursday through Saturday.
    • Participate in free runs, talks, book signings by your running heroes, running film screenings around the city and across the five boroughs on this comprehensive list compiled by runningandthecity
    • Cross that marathon finish line on Saturday by participating in the NYRR Dash to the Finish Line 5K. There’s still some space left in this sign up for this high-speed preview! #DashtotheFinish
    • Not racing and not sure what you’re doing on race morning? CHRC has a great group heading to Mile 8 of the marathon in Brooklyn to volunteer! Sign-ups happened a few months ago but if you are able and interested, there may be some spots open for you. Please contact us at runningroyalty01@gmail.com and address your questions to Brooke (AKA Marathon Water Wench)!

On Sunday November 1st, after the marathon and volunteering is over, our Royal Council and members are hosting a cozy celebratory Potluck in Crown Heights! Bring a little something and hang out with us as we close out Marathon Week and the end of our summer and fall season!

  • Taking delight in Runner’s High

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who has made it across a finish line this month!!

Here are 5 ways to celebrate your achievements and honor your incredible spirit and fitness:

Al Gordon 4Mile. One of few races in our backyard, this Prospect Park race is now a Marathon Qualifier with a nod toward another NYC running great.

Mar. 6: Washington Heights Salsa, Blues and Shamrocks 5K. Historic cloisters, salsa, blues, Irish folk, gospel jazz… appeals to all tastes!

Mar. 20: NYC Half Marathon. Okay just kidding. This one’s not open yet but it’ll open for drawing on October 15! May the odds be ever in your favor…

If you were training hard for your big race, now it’s time to get back in touch with what you love about running.

    • Indulge in a time of Recovery & Strengthening.

Massage, Yoga, Stretch…We encourage all of it!

It’s easy to get sick and end up indoors during this beautiful time of year that passes all too quickly. Enjoy the changing of the season!

  • Bronx 10 Mile

Congratulations to all members who participated in this 5 borough series race in the Bronx! Among the nearly 10,000 runners out there, Team CHRCWomen placed 27th and put in another score for club points, and Nick Collins represented our men in this flat fast race. The Bronx 10mile  marked the start of the fall racing season for many and it indicated only that we are ready after all the work this summer. Afterward we got together and re-upped our energy at Amy Ruths with a delicious Southern brunch before heading back to Crown Heights. Thanks to everyone who was out there!
